Based on a Decree issued by the Council of Ministers in the Official Gazette on 23 September 2022, individuals with annual gross income below €19,500 are exempted from the obligation to submit a personal tax return for the tax year 2022. Back in August 2020, as per a provision in the amended Assessment and Collection of Taxes it was stated that it would be mandatory for all taxpayers to submit a tax return irrespective of their income level.
