The Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property announced on 31st January 2024 that the deadline for all corporate entities to file their updated UBO data by December 31, 2023 was extended to March 31, 2024, following the attorney general’s recommendation.
It should be noted that companies not complying were to be fined €200 on January 1, 2024, and €100 per every continuing day of non-compliance.
Following this announcement all fines already imposed for this matter will be cancelled. This decision was officially confirmed during yesterday’s session of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry, and Tourism. As a result, fines that have been previously paid will be refunded by the Government.
From the 1st April 2024 non-compliance will incur administrative and other penalties, in accordance with the relevant legislation provisions.
